Taxon description
Gatunek o zasięgu ograniczonym do południowej części środkowej Europy, wykazywany również z Francji i Bośni. W Polsce chrząszcz należy do wielkich rzadkości, notowany dotychczas tylko z trzech krain w zachodniej części kraju. Zasiedla tereny górzyste. Rośliną żywicielską jest miesiącznica trwała — Lunaria rediviva L., w której rozwijają się larwy. Postacie dojrzałe żywią się także pyłkiem kwiatów bzu koralowego — Sambucus racemosa L. oraz roślin z rodzin baldaszkowatych i krzyżowych.
