Taxon description
Gatunek południowo-europejski, notowany również z południowej części Europy środkowej, gdzie jednak jego rozsiedlenie nie jest dostatecznie poznane, gdyż często mylony z M. umbrosus Sturm i M. maurus Sturm. Według A. Horiona (1960) wszystkie dawne doniesienia o występowaniu omawianego gatunku w Europie Środkowej są mniej lub więcej wątpliwe. W Polsce wykazany tylko z trzech krain w zachodniej części kraju. Dane Nunberga (1976) o doniesieniach z Pojezierza Mazurskiego prawdopodobnie opierały się na danych z okolic Królewca na terenie byłych Prus. Chrząszcz bardzo rzadko spotykany, ale niekiedy w miejscu pojawu łowiony w większej liczbie osobników. Rośliną żywicielska jest kocimiętka właściwa — Nepeta cataria L.
