Gatunek jednodomny i holocykliczny. Żyje na korzeniach, szyjce korzeniowej i przyziemnych częściach łodygi bylicy pospolitej — Artemisia vulgaris L., często pod kopczykami ziemi, naniesionej przez mrówki.
