Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1997:

Gatunek kserotermofilny, rozmieszczony od zachodniej części Afryki Północnej i Europy Południowej oraz południowej części Europy Środkowej po Kaukaz i Bliski Wschód. W Polsce znany był dotychczas tylko z jednego okazu złowionego 8.VII.1961 w Kątach, na stanowisku kserotermicznym w zbiorowisku roślinnym Cariceto-Inuletum (Cmoluch 1971) i na tej podstawie notowany z Roztocza przez innych autorów. Ogólnikowe informacje o występowaniu tego ryjkowca na Wyżynie Lubelskiej (Petryszak 1982, M. Mazur 1983), opierały się na wyżej wymienionym stanowisku na Roztoczu. Ostatnio znaleziony na podanym wyżej stanowisku w znacznej liczbie osobników z ośmiału mniejszego — Cerinthe minor L. i jak podają J. Szypuła i M. Wanat (1996) «Wieprzecka Góra» pozostaje wciąż jedynym znanym stanowiskiem tego gatunku w Polsce. Zasiedla suche i ciepłe stanowiska na polach, przydrożach, rumowiskach i wzgórzach. Żyje na ośmiale mniejszym — Cerinthe minor L., według obcego piśmiennictwa występuje na farbowniku lekarskim — Anchusa officinalis L. i krzywoszyju polnym — Lycopsis arvensis L.
