Taxon description
Gatunek palearktyczny, rozmieszczony w prawie całej Europie, w Fennoskandii przekraczający koło podbiegunowe, a w południowej części kontynentu występujący lokalnie w górach. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk rozmieszczonych w różnych częściach kraju. Żyje najczęściej gromadnie w hubach na zmurszałym drewnie drzew liściastych oraz pod obluźnioną przegrzybiałą korą. Rozwój odbywa w wyschniętym, miękkim drewnie, przero śniętym białymi strzępkami grzybni albo w na wpół przesuszonych owocnikach żagwi łuskowatej — Polyporus squamosus (Huds.) Fr., żółciaka siarkowego — Laetiporus sulphureus (Bull. ex. Fr.) Murr. oraz niekiedy ozorka dębowego — Fistulina hepatica (Schaefe.) ex Fr. Nowe pokolenie ukazuje się w sierpniu.
