Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w Europie od krajów śródziemnomorskich do Wysp Brytyjskich i środkowych obszarów Fennoskandii, na wschód sięgający po Syberię Zachodnią. W całej Polsce chrząszcz pospolity, nie znany dotychczas tylko z czterech krain. Zasiedla rowy, łachy i otwarte miejsca wilgotne. Jako rośliny żywicielskie podawane są krwawnica pospolita — Lythrum salicaria L. i krwawnica wąskolistna — L. hyssopifolia L. Larwa żeruje w zalążni kwiatowej i owocach. Młode pokolenie pojawia się w sierpniu.
