Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1985:

Gatunek o słabo poznanym rozmieszczeniu ogólnym, gdyż do niedawna nie odróżniany od pokrewnego 2V. pulchellus (L.), notowany dotychczas z nielicznych stanowisk w środkowej części Europy. W Polsce pewne stanowiska są położone na pobrzeżu Bałtyku, natomiast dawne wzmianki o zasiedleniu Śląska winny być potwierdzone nowymi danymi. Występuje głównie na piaszczystych wybrzeżach morskich. Bionomia i cykl rozwojowy tego chrząszcza nie są dokładnie poznane.
