Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1991:

Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w zachodniej części Palearktyki od Maroka i Wysp Brytyjskich po Kazachstan i Syberię Środkową. W Polsce, jakkolwiek nie znany jest jeszcze z niektórych krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Spotykany przeważnie na łąkach, przydrożach i stanowiskach roślinności ruderalnej. Żeruje głównie na ostach — Carduus L. i ostrożeniach — Cirsium Mill., rzadziej również w łodygach roślin z innych rodzajów. Larwy zimują i przepoczwarczają się w maju roku następnego.
