Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Nierzadki ten gatunek pojawia się w dwu pokoleniach: pierwszym w V i VI, drugim w VIII. Zmiennie ubarwione gąsienice żerują w VI i VII oraz VIII i IX na brzozach, wierzbach, olchach, topolach i leszczynach. Na roślinach żywicielskich występują pojedynczo lub po kilka. Na stronie grzbietowej ciała mają 4 garby: na 4, 5, 6 i 7 pierścieniu. Zimują poczwarki w oprzędach płytko w ziemi.
