Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w środkowej Europie, na północ docierający do Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii, południowej Szwecji i Karelii, na południe do północnego Bałkanu, a na wschód od Kaukazu, Wyżyny Armeńskiej i Iranu. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, ale w południowych krainach jest częściej spotykany. Nie jest znany jeszcze z Pojezierzy, Niziny Mazowieckiej, Podlasia i Kotliny Nowotarskiej. Zamieszkuje lasy iglaste i mieszane. Bionomia tego chrząszcza jest słabo poznana. Cykl rozwojowy prawdopodobnie przebiega w ciągu dwu lat. Rozwój larwalny odbywa pod korą martwych gałązek i gałęzi drzew iglastych o średnicy 2-6 cm, głównie świerków — Picea Dietr. Przepoczwarczenie następuje w kwietniu — maju, a imagines pojawiają się od maja do lipca; spotykano je na drzewach lęgowych oraz na kwiatach głogów — Crataegus L., tawuł — Spiraea L., trybul — Anthriscus Pers. oraz na kwiatostanach różnych baldaszkowatych (Umbelliferae).
