Taxon description
Gatunek mało znany, opisany przed przeszło stu laty z dolnego biegu Wisły koło Kaczynosu, później notowany jako odmiana Ochthebius (Asiobates) bicolon Germ., albo jako jego synonim. Dopiero M.A. Jach (1990) przywrócił rangę gatunkową temu bajornikowi, potwierdzając jego występowanie w Gdańsku (leg. Steiner). Prawdopodobnie szerzej rozsiedlony w naszym kraju na terenach nizinnych w środowiskach w jakich występują kałużnicowate.
