Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1979:
Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie środkową i południowo-zachodnią Europę oraz zachodnią część północnej Afryki; wykazuje zróżnicowanie morfologiczne w pięciu znanych podgatunkach. Podgatunek nominatywny zasiedla środkową Europę, nadto notowany z jednej południowej prowincji Szwecji. W Polsce pospolity w górach i okolicach podgórskich, w miarę posuwania się na północ, na terenach nizinnych coraz rzadziej spotykany. Występuje głównie na żwirowatych i piaszczysto-mulistych pobrzeżach rzek i potoków, rzadziej na polach, łąkach, obrzeżach stawów i kałuż.
