Taxon description
Szeroko rozpowszechniony gatunek zachodniopalearktyczny. Występuje w prawie całej Europie (prócz krańców północnych), północnej Afryce, na Wyspach Kanaryjskich, Maderze, Azorach oraz na Kaukazie, nadto zawleczony z balastem okrętowym na północno-wschodnie wybrzeża Ameryki Północnej. Zasiedla gliniaste lub piaszczysto-gliniaste pobrzeża zarówno wód bieżących jak i stojących. Spotykany najczęściej w bliskiej odległości od wody na miejscach otwartych lub słabo ocienionych.
