Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Motyl bardzo pospolity w V, VI i VII, gąsienice żerują gromadnie na drzewach liściastych (wierzby topole, dęby, lipy, brzozy, jarzębiny) od VII do IX. Zimują poczwarki w ziemi w jamkach bez oprzędów. Gąsienice tego gatunku w przypadku zaniepokojenia zwykle wszystkie jednocześnie unoszą przód i tył ciała ku górze.
