Taxon description
Gatunek palearktyczny, rozpowszechniony w Europie od Wysp Brytyjskich i północnej części Fennoskandii aż do krajów śródziemnomorskich. W Polsce prawdopodobnie występuje na całym obszarze, jednak nie znany jeszcze z wielu krain. Zasiedla zarówno tereny nizinne jak i górskie, docierając do strefy kosodrzewiny i hal. Znajdowany przeważnie w świeżych odchodach zwierzęcych i w gnijących szczątkach roślinnych.
