Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w Europie od krajów śródziemnomorskich po Wyspy Brytyjskie, Danię i południowe obszary Fennoskandii, notowany także z Syberii. W Polsce rozsiedlony na całym obszarze kraju, jest najczęściej znajdowanym gatunkiem omawianego rodzaju. Pojaw postaci dojrzałych przypada na kwiecień-sierpień. Chrząszcze żerują na liściach różnych krzewów i drzew liściastych, jak brzozy, olchy, leszczyny, dęby, topole, wierzby, lipy, klony, głogi i róże. Generacja jednoroczna. Samice składają jaja w czerwcu-lipcu. Larwy żerują na korzeniach trawy kupkówki pospolitej — Dactylis glomerata L., zimują w glebie, przepoczwarczają się w końcu marca lub w kwietniu.
