Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1992:

Gatunek szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w środkowej i północnej części Europy, na wschód przez Syberię docierający do wybrzeży Oceanu Spokojnego. Czterooczak leżaninowiec jest w Polsce rzadko spotykany, notowany zaledwie z pięciu krain. Głównym żywicielem jest świerk, rzadziej sosna. Opada z reguły leżaniny, zarówno strzały, jak i grube gałęzie. Chodnik macierzysty gwiaździsty, o 3-6 ramionach długości do 7 cm, przebiegających raczej wzdłuż włókien, wygryzione dość wyraźnie w drewnie. Cykl rozwojowy jednoroczny.
