Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony w Europie od Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowej Szwecji do krajów śródziemnomorskich, wykazywany poza tym z Syberii, Azji Mniejszej i Kaukazu. Występuje na łąkach, polach, ugorach, przydrożach, w rowach i zaroślach. Jako rośliny żywicielskie w piśmiennictwie podawane są lucerna siewna — Medicago sativa L., lucerna nerkowata — M. lupulina L., lucerna sierpowata — M. falcata L. i koniczyna drobnogłówkowa — Trifolium dubium Sibth. Larwa żeruje w pączkach liściowych i kwiatowych; w jednym pączku występuje tylko jedna larwa.
