Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony głównie w środkowej i południowej części Europy, notowany także z Wysp Brytyjskich, Sycylii, Sardynii, Afryki Północnej, Kaukazu, Krymu i Azji Mniejszej. W Polsce pstrak wiązowiec wykazywany był z nielicznych rozproszonych stanowisk w ośmiu krainach. Opada gałęzie i pnie młodych wiązów. Żerowiska zakłada pod cienką korą; chodnik macierzysty poprzeczny, długości 2-4 cm, komora godowa w korze, chodniki larwalne są krótkie bez odbicia w drewnie. Postacie dojrzałe zimują w chodnikach wygryzionych w korze szyi korzeniowej drzew.
