Taxon description
Gatunek szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w całej Europie, w Fennoskandii sięgający daleko poza koło podbiegunowe, notowany ponadto z północnej Afryki, Madery, Kaukazu, Azji Mniejszej i Ameryki Północnej. W Polsce z wyjątkiem wysokich gór występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju aczkolwiek nie notowany z wielu krain. Żyje pod butwiejącymi resztkami roślinnymi, w ściółce, nawozie i pryzmach kompostowych, często wykazywany z gniazd mrówek.
