Taxon description
Gatunek wysokogórski, znany dotychczas tylko z polskich Tatr i Beskidu Zachodniego. Odkryty przez J. Makólskiego już przed kilkudziesięciu laty na Babiej Górze oraz licznie przez niego złowiony w pierwszej połowie sierpnia 1946 r. pod szczytem Świnicy, około 2150 m n.p.m. —ale nigdzie przez tego badacza nie opisany. Na podstawie przesłanych przez J. Makólskiego okazów oraz informacji o cechach odróżniających omawiany gatunek od pokrewnego Pterostichus (Cryobius) blandulus Mill., K. Kult (1947) umieścił Pterostichus (Cryobius) tatricus Mak. (i.l.) w kluczu do oznaczania czechosłowackich Carabidae, przez co stał się autorem nazwy omawianego gatunku. Na podstawie dotychczasowych znalezisk można przypuszczać, że jest to wysokogórski endemit zachodniokarpacki.
