Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1980:
Gatunek znany z całej północnej i środkowej Europy, na zachód sięgający do Francji, a na południe do północnych części Włoch i Półwyspu Bałkańskiego. W Polsce rozmieszczony głównie w okolicach górskich i w północno-wschodniej części kraju. Zasiedla lasy iglaste i liściaste, gdzie żyje pod korą drzew w chodnikach owadów drzewożernych. Uważany za chrząszcza pożytecznego dla gospodarki leśnej, gdyż odżywia się larwami korników i kózek. Znajdowany poza tym w zmurszałych, wilgotnych pniach oraz w ich sąsiedztwie, w ściółce, grzybach, pod chrustem i wśród mchów.
