Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1997:

Obszar rozsiedlenia tego gatunku obejmuje zachodnią, środkową i wschodnią część Europy, docierając na wschód do Astrachania i prowincji Fukien w Chinach. W Polsce występuje lokalnie na terenach nizinnych i wyżynnych; notowano go ponadto z Karkonoszy i Beskidu Zachodniego. Zasiedla brzegi wód stojących oraz mokre łąki. Postacie dojrzałe żerują na liściach i kwiatach rdestu ziemnowodnego — Polygonum amphibium L., występującego w dwu formach: lądowej — f. terrestre Leyss. i wodnej — f. aquaticum Leyss. Larwy żerują i przeobrażają się w łodygach, niekiedy w roślinach formy wodnej głęboko poniżej powierzchni wody.
