Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1995:
Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w południowej i środkowej części Europy, sięgający na północ po Wyspy Brytyjskie i Danię; notowany poza tym z Algierii i Maroka. W Polsce rzadko i sporadycznie spotykany, notowany z nielicznych stanowisk w 13 krainach, przy czym z Mazur, Wzgórz Trzebnickich i Śląska Górnego wykazywany na podstawie danych sprzed przeszło 120 lat. Zasiedla wyłącznie gleby piaszczyste. Żyje na zawciągu pospolitym — Armeria elongata (Hoffm.) Koch. Pojaw postaci dojrzałych na roślinach zaczyna się w maju i trwa do września. Samice w czerwcu-lipcu składają jaja do główek kwiatowych. Larwy żerują na owocach, następnie opuszczają je i wdrążają się w glebę, gdzie na głębokości około 5 cm budują komorę poczwarkową. Stadium poczwarki trwa 3-4 tygodnie. Nowe pokolenie ukazuje się lipcu-sierpniu.
