Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1995:
Gatunek rozmieszczony w środkowej i wschodniej części Europy; notowany ponadto z Syberii i Bliskiego Wschodu. W Polsce ryjkowiec ten należy do rzadkości, jest znany z nielicznych miejscowości tylko w pięciu krainach. Zamieszkuje ciepłe i suche środowiska; jest poławiany na skałkach wapiennych i gipsowych, w winnicach i na piaszczystych wydmach na niżu. Jako rośliny żywicielskie wymienia się łyszczec baldachogronowy — Gypsophila fastigiata L., łyszczec rozesłany — G. repens L. i łyszczec wiechowaty — G. paniculata Fisch. Postacie dojrzałe pojawiają się na roślinach od maja do sierpnia. Larwy żerują w kwiatach i młodych nasionach. Przepoczwarczenie ma miejsce w glebie.
