Taxon description
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony prawie w całej Europie, nie znany z Wysp Brytyjskich i północnych prowincji Fennoskandii, na południu Europy rzadko i sporadycznie znajdowany, notowany nadto z Kaukazu, Syberii i Ameryki Północnej. W Polsce chrząszcz pospolicie spotykany od Bałtyku aż po Sudety i Karpaty. Żyje w cienistych lasach i na wilgotnych łąkach w ściółce, pod opadłym listowiem i gnijącymi szczątkami roślinnymi.
