Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie południową i środkową część Europy, na północ sięgający po Wyspy Brytyjskie, Danię i południowe obszary Fennoskandii, notowany ponadto z Kaukazu. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry, dotychczas nie notowany jeszcze tylko z czterech krain. Występuje na całym niżu i w górach po strefę subalpejską, na miejscach wilgotnych i suchych łąkach, pastwiskach, pobrzeżach wód, młakach, w zaroślach i lasach liściastych. Jako rośliny żywicielskie w piśmiennictwie są podawane: groszek wiosenny — Lathyrus vernus (L.) Bernh., komonica zwyczajna — Lotus corniculatus L., komonica błotna — L. uliginosus Schk., traganek szerokolistny — Astragalus glycyphyllos L. i sparceta siewna — Onobrychis viciaefolia Scop. Według L. Dieckmanna (1977) larwy żerują w łodygach, a nie w strączkach, jak podają inni badacze. Poza wymienionymi roślinami postacie dojrzałe spotykano na kilku gatunkach koniczyn — Trifolium L.
