Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący niemal całą Europę, w Szwecji przekraczający koło podbiegunowe, notowany ponadto z Syberii, Gruzji i Algierii. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry, nie znany jednak jest jeszcze z niektórych krain. Chrząszcze ukazują się na początku maja i obserwowano je do pierwszych dni września; żerują głównie na wierzbie iwie — Salix caprea L. i wierzbie wiciowej — S. viminalis L., rzadziej na topolach — Populus L. Samice składają jaja do pąków od połowy maja do pierwszych dni września. Larwy żerują w młodych pędach, w których zimują. Przeobrażenie odbywa się w glebie wczesną wiosną.
