Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony od Anglii, Francji, Danii, Holandii przez środkową Europę aż do środkowych obszarów europejskiej części ZSRR. Chrząszcz znany u nas z nielicznych rozproszonych stanowisk w różnych częściach kraju — występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, wszędzie tam, gdzie rosną drzewa żywicielskie tego gatunku. Jest monofagiem modrzewi — Larix Mill., występując nie tylko w naturalnym zasięgu drzew żywicielskich, ale także w tych rejonach, gdzie modrzew niedawno został wprowadzony przez człowieka. T. gabrieli J. Weise, o nazwie polskiej ściga modrzewiowa, atakuje zazwyczaj nasłonecznione pnie uszkodzonych, obumierających lub martwych drzew stojących oraz nie okorowane pieńki, świeżo ścięte drzewa lub niedawno wywrócone przez wiatr. Postacie dojrzałe pojawiają się od czerwca do lipca. Są one stosunkowo rzadko i przeważnie przypadkowo spotykane. Większą liczbę imagines można uzyskać w hodowli dojrzałych larw zwykle licznie występujących. Bionomia tego gatunku taka, jak innych gatunków omawianego rodzaju.
