Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986c:
Gatunek europejski, występujący od krajów śródziemnomorskich aż do południowych części Anglii i Fennoskandii oraz do Karelii, notowany nadto z Kaukazu. W Polsce występuje w całym kraju z wyjątkiem wyższych partii górskich. Zasiedla lasy ze starymi przestojami drzew liściastych, zwłaszcza obumierających buków. Jest również spotykany na sągach drzewa i drewnie opałowym w szopach. Drapieżne larwy napadają na niższe postacie rozwojowe chrząszczy drewnożernych, zwłaszcza kołatków — Ptilinus fuscus Geoffr. i P. pectinicornis (L.).
