Górski i podgórski gatunek znany z południowo-wschodniej części środkowej Europy, rozprzestrzeniony zwłaszcza w Sudetach i Karpatach oraz sąsiadujących z nimi wyżynach Niektóre dane z Beskidów i Pienin mogą odnosić się do podobnego gatunku Trechus pulpani Reška. Żyje w ściółce leśnej, spotykany jednak również powyżej górnej granicy lasu.
