Taxon description
Gatunek występujący głównie w środkowej części Europy, docierający na północ do Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowych prowincji Fennoskandii oraz do Karelii, notowany ponadto jako zawleczony do Kanady. W Polsce rozprzestrzeniony na całym obszarze, przy czym w górach i na podgórzach częściej poławiany. Zamieszkuje zarówno tereny nizinne, jak i górzyste; spotykany głównie w cienistych i wilgotnych środowiskach — w dolinach rzek i potoków, wąwozach, lasach mieszanych i liściastych, zwłaszcza bukowych, zaroślach i na łąkach śródleśnych. Prowadzi skryty tryb życia — jest aktywny nocą, żeruje na liściach, w ciągu dnia kryje się pod kamieniami, opadłymi liśćmi, wśród mchu i kęp trawy. Jako rośliny żywicielskie są podawane: ziarnopłon wiosenny — Ficaria verna Huds., szczyr roczny — Mercurialis annua L., szczyr trwały — M. perennis L., czosnek niedźwiedzi — Allium ursinum L., pięciornik rozłogowy — Potentilla reptans L., podagrycznik pospolity — Aegopodium podagraria L., mniszek pospolity — Taraxacum officinale Web., powojnik pnący — Clematis vitalba L. i jaskry — Ranunculus L. Pojaw imagines przypada na maj-listopad. Rozmnaża się partenogenetycznie.
