Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1992:
Obszar zasiedlenia tego gatunku obejmuje środkową i południową część Europy, Afrykę Północną oraz Azję Mniejszą, notowany ponadto z Danii i południowej Szwecji. Rozwiertek większy w Polsce zamieszkuje głównie tereny nizinne, rzadziej spotykany na podgórzach, nie znany z Sudetów i Karpat. Żeruje w drewnie głównie dębu, rzadziej buka i wiązu. Opada przeważnie leżące kłody. Żerowisko typu rozwidlonego leży w płaszczyźnie poziomej całkowicie w drewnie. Larwy odżywiają się grzybnią grzyba Leptographium przenoszoną przez samicę do chodnika macierzystego.
