Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1983:
Gatunek palearktyczny, rozmieszczony prawie w całej Europie (z wyjątkiem północnej części Fennoskandii), zawleczony nadto z balastem okrętowym do Ameryki Północnej. W Polsce pospolity od Bałtyku aż po Tatry na terenach nizinnych i podgórskich. Pojawia się w kwietniu i poławiany jest do września, przeważnie w odchodach dużych zwierząt, zwłaszcza krów i koni.
