Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w środkowej, zachodniej i południowej części Europy oraz w Afryce Północnej. W środkowej Europie i w Polsce chrząszcz bardzo rzadko spotykany, znany u nas z pojedynczych stanowisk tylko w trzech krainach. Nie znane są stanowiska w polskich Tatrach, skąd ogólnikowo wykazany był przed prawie stu laty. Występuje w lasach liściastych i mieszanych, na Śląsku Dolnym poławiany licznie pod odstającą korą świerków.
