Taxon description
Gatunek pospolity, szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w prawie całej Europie, w Fennoskandii sięgający daleko poza koło podbiegunowe, notowany również z Kaukazu, Ameryki Północnej i Gwatemali. Występuje przeważnie na wilgotnych terenach pod rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi, ponadto notowany z gniazd ptaków, nawozu i gniazd mrówek.
