Taxon description
Gatunek rozpowszechniony w prawie całej Europie z wyjątkiem niektórych południowych części, na wschód dociera do Syberii i środkowej Azji. Występuje zarówno na nizinach jak i w górach, wkraczając do piętra kosodrzewiny i hal. Spotykany w bajorkach, mokradłach i małych stawkach na terenach otwartych i polanach leśnych oraz torfowiskach, rzadko spotykany w wodach płynących.
