Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony w zachodniej, południowej i środkowej części Europy, sięgający na wschód po Ukrainę Zachodnią, wykazywany również z Iranu. W Polsce wykazany z nielicznych rozproszonych stanowisk w różnych częściach kraju, na ogół znajdowany rzadko i przeważnie pojedynczo. Zasiedla łąki przyleśne i wilgotne, ciepłe stanowiska w zadrzewieniach liściastych na terenach nizinnych, zwłaszcza w dolinach rzecznych i na pobrzeżach wód stojących. Cykl rozwojowy trwa trzy lata. Larwy żyją w glebie pod okapem krzewów i drzew. W południowej części Europy larwy są notowane jako szkodniki w szkółkach leśnych, jednak szkodliwość ich jest niewielka z uwagi na rzadkość występowania. Postacie dojrzałe po przezimowaniu ukazują się w kwietniu i przeżywają do lipca; w dni pochmurne i zimne są zwykle w ukryciu w przyziemnej strefie, a w czasie słonecznej pogody przebywają na runie leśnym, trawach, krzewach, kwitnącej jarzębinie, głogu oraz na baldaszkowatych.
