Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w całej środkowej części Europy, na północ sięgający do południowych rejonów Anglii i Norwegii oraz Szwecji, środkowej Finlandii i Karelii; na wschód dociera do europejskiej części ZSRR, a na południu Europy lokalnie tylko zasiedla obszary górzyste. W Polsce rzadko i sporadycznie poławiany zarówno na terenach nizinnych, jak i górzystych, gdzie sięga do strefy subalpejskiej. Żyje w grzybach i hubach różnych gatunków opanowanych przez larwy muchówek, zwłaszcza w borowiku — Boletus (Dill.) Fr. i muchomorze — Amanita (Pers.) Hooke. Pojedynczo i prawdopodobnie przypadkowo łowiony przy soku wyciekającym z drzew, na padlinie i pod gnijącymi szczątkami roślinnymi.
