Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony od skrajnych obszarów północnych Fennoskandii, Karelii i Litwy po Danię, kraje Beneluksu, Niemcy, Francję, Włochy, Austrię, Czechy, Morawy i Słowację. Z Polski notowany z jednego stanowiska na podstawie jednego okazu złowionego w sosnowym borze świeżym — Leucobryo-Pinetum. Występuje na obszarach leśnych, w dolinach rzecznych, ogrodach, na pastwiskach oraz w budynkach gospodarczych. Poławiany w detrytusie, w pryzmach kompostu i nawozu, w gnijącym sianie, słomie i grzybach, w ekskrementach i na padlinie oraz na płynącym soku z drzew.
