Taxon description
Gatunek palearktyczny, rozmieszczony od północnej i środkowej części Europy przez Syberię aż do Japonii; w Europie na południe sięga do górzystych obszarów Francji, północnych Włoch, Bośni i Kaukazu. W Polsce znany głównie z południowej części kraju. Występuje pod ekskrementami, gnijącymi grzybami i szczątkami roślinnymi, niekiedy znajdowany w gniazdach myszy i w chodnikach gąsienic trociniarek — Cossus L., żerujących w olchach, osikach i wierzbach.
