Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w północnej i środkowej części Europy, na południe sięgający do północnej Hiszpanii, Włoch, Słowenii, Siedmiogrodu i Ukraińskiej SRR. W Polsce znany z pojedynczych stanowisk w czterech krainach, tylko na Śląsku Dolnym notowany z kilku miejscowości. Gatunek synantropijny, występujący głównie w sąsiedztwie osiedli, zwłaszcza w kurnikach, gołębnikach, stajniach i szopach, poza tym spotykany w gniazdach ptaków, zwłaszcza w dziuplach i skrzynkach lęgowych. Niekiedy poławiany w kompoście, nawozie i na padlinie.
