Taxon description
Gatunek zachodniopalearktyczny, rozsiedlony od Portugalii do Azji Mniejszej, Kaukazu i Iranu, zasięg północny obejmuje Wyspy Brytyjskie i południową część Fennoskandii. W Europie w miarę posuwania się ku północy coraz rzadszy, głównie spotykany na wybrzeżach morskich pod starymi, wyschniętymi morszczynami. Wewnątrz lądu żyje na nasłonecznionych glebach piaszczystych, pokrytych niską roślinnością. W Polsce rzadko znajdowany. Z Beskidu Wschodniego (okolice Przemyśla) omyłkowo wykazany przez T. Trellę (1926) na podstawie błędnych oznaczeń (J. Makólski*), odnośne okazy dowodowe należą do Amara (Amara) familiaris (Duft.).
