Taxon description
Gatunek palearktyczny, występujący w całej Europie aż do najdalszych krańców północnych, wykazany również z Ameryki Północnej i Nowej Zelandii. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, ale brak jeszcze udokumentowanych danych z wielu krain. Zamieszkuje zarówno tereny nizinne, jak i górzyste, zasiedlając tereny lesiste i otwarte przestrzenie. Występuje na glebach różnych typów w ściółce, wśród mchów, pod opadłym listowiem i rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi. Znajdowane są przeważnie samice, lokalnie brak zupełnie samców — prawdopodobnie na skutek rozmnażania się partenogenetycznego.
