Taxon description
Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie środkową, część Europy, na południe sięgając po Hiszpanię, Włochy północne, Bośnię i Albanię; notowany poza tym z Danii. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich, brak jednak jeszcze udokumentowanych danych o jego występowaniu w wielu krainach. Zasiedla głównie tereny nizinne i pogórza. Larwy odbywają rozwój w martwych gałęziach drzew liściastych i iglastych. Pojaw postaci dojrzałych zaczyna się w maju i trwa do lipca; chrząszcze przebywają zwykle na kwiatach tawuły — Spiraea L., derenia — Cornus L. oraz różnych roślin należących do baldaszkowatych i złożonych.
