Taxon description
Gatunek rozpowszechniony prawie w całej Europie z wyjątkiem skrajnych części północnych i południowych. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze z wyjątkiem wyższych partii górskich, nie notowany jednak jeszcze z niektórych krain. Występuje na glebach piaszczystych i gliniasto-piaszczystych. Cykl rozwojowy dwuletni. Larwy żyją w glebie. Postacie dorosłe poławiane są od maja do sierpnia. Odbywa loty w słoneczne dni i pogodne wieczory. Uważany za szkodnika upraw polowych i sadów.
