Gatunek wykazywany z Europy południowej i środkowej, Półwyspu Pirenejskiego oraz z Maroka i Algierii; stosunkowo niedawno z omawianego gatunku został wyodrębniony inny — A. (A.) nigrojubata Roub., dlatego też niektóre dane o rozmieszczeniu mogą odnosić się do tego drugiego gatunku. W Polsce notowany z nielicznych stanowisk w różnych częściach kraju, zarówno na niżu, jak i w górach. Larwy odbywają rozwój w niedawno ściętych sosnach albo uszkodzonych na skutek pożaru. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się w kwietniu i poławiane są do sierpnia, przeważnie na ściętych pniach sosen, obłamanych gałęziach, wiązkach chrustu, niekiedy również na kwiatach roślin, zwłaszcza baldaszkowatych (Umbelliferae).
