Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1991:

Gatunek obejmujący zasięgiem południowo-wschodnią część Europy, Azję Mniejszą, po Liban i dolinę Araksu, oraz Azję Środkową wraz z Mongolią; granica północna jego rozsiedlenia przebiega od południowej Francji wzdłuż pasma Alp i Karpat Zachodnich przez Podole po dorzecze dolnej Wołgi. W Polsce dotychczas nie stwierdzony. Ogólnikowe wzmianki o występowaniu w Polsce opierały się zapewne na stanowiskach obecnie leżących poza naszą granicą wschodnią. Istnieje prawdopodobieństwo występowania omawianego chrząszcza w południowo-wschodniej części kraju. Żeruje na kosaćcach, najczęściej poławiany na kosaćcu ozdobnym — Iris germanica L.
