Taxon description
Gatunek występujący w południowej i środkowej Europie, na północ docierający do Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowej Szwecji, notowany poza tym z Kaukazu, Azji Mniejszej i Syberii. W Polsce, choć nie znany jeszcze z niektórych krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Pojaw postaci dojrzałych przypada na maj i trwa do lipca. Jako roślinę żywicielską, większość źródeł podaje różne gatunki dębów — Quercus L. Samica składa jaja obok środkowego nerwu liścia, następnie zwija go w cylindryczną tutkę. Larwa żeruje w tutce 4-6 tygodni, następnie z tutką opada na glebę. Przepoczwarczenie odbywa się w tutce. Stadium poczwarki trwa około 20 dni. Młode chrząszcze ukazują się w sierpniu-wrześniu i przezimowują w powierzchniowej warstwie gleby albo pod uschniętymi liśćmi.
