Taxon description
Gatunek rozmieszczony w zachodniej i środkowej części Europy, notowany także z Danii, Finlandii i południowej Szwecji. W Polsce chrząszcz mało znany, notowany na podstawie znalezisk sprzed przeszło 50, a nawet 100 lat. Występuje na pobrzeżach wód stojących i bagnach. Jako rośliny żywicielskie są podawane: skrzyp bagienny — Equisetum limosum L. i rośliny z rodzaju wywłócznik — Myriophyllum L., na których według L. Dieckmanna (1990) żyje pod wodą.
